“If you want to experience a real onsen bath with Gunma‘s culinary variety, then this is your place to be.”

I enjoyed immersing myself in Japan’s traditional culture and Gunma’s cuisine, and the onsen were fantastic; even though I don’t speak Japanese, the staff did their best to explain everything. Remember this ryokan is traditional rather than modern, yet everything feels cozy and clean, and the food was great, though I sometimes wondered what I had eaten; if you’re willing to try, you won’t regret it. Nothing negative—just a beautiful experience.

“なにしろ、温泉が最高です！”

Being right next to the river lets you hear the water’s gentle flow from both the bath and the room, which is incredibly soothing; however, given the spectacular view, a slightly cleaner window glass would have made the scenery even more beautiful.

The setting beside the river is lovely, and the hotel has its own hot spring as well as an original open‑air hot pool in the rocks just a short walk away. Breakfast and dinner receive personal service and feature an extraordinary range of dishes. Everything is fine, though a touch old‑fashioned; the observation elevator is a bit disappointing because there’s no deck at the top.
