“Great rustic and peaceful spot at Whiskey Point”
We loved staying at Whiskey Point Resort; the owners were very kind and fun to chat with. We stayed on the upper floor of one of the huts, and the rooms were very spacious for the style of the accommodation, with a lovely front balcony and a hammock where we spent a lot of time. That’s the great thing—this place is designed for just that. Eating time was minimal, and we relaxed, slept, and rested. There are plenty of activities if you want to go out, but you have to travel to them. There isn’t much happening in the area, which is why we booked it. The fitness centre is wonderful, mostly weights and yoga mats in a fan‑cooled open‑sided hut—we didn’t use it, but if we’d stayed longer we’d have done some yoga. The surf break at Whiskey Point is exactly a 10‑minute walk along the beach. You can arrange board hire from the resort, which will connect you with a company in Arugam Bay; the boards seem to be good quality. They’ll deliver them to and from the resort for free. The WhatsApp service to the rooms and cabanas is fantastic, super quick and efficient. We rented a scooter from the resort to head down to Arugam Bay and Peanut Farm, and it was a very simple process. The shower isn’t a problem at all—it’s not cold, mostly ambient temperature, and a welcome refreshment with the heat of Sri Lanka, even in the mornings.
