Sands by the Sea Motel

I had no positive notes, but the smell inside the rooms was awful and I couldn’t stay, so I had to cancel my booking.

It’s a solid choice for a quick overnight stay while heading up the coast. The basic motel accommodation by the sea is fine, the sunset was lovely, and the neighboring hotel’s facilities were available for use.

“The amenities and the views and outside common areas had stunning views of the ocean and very clean!”

The on‑property restaurant was super convenient, and the food and staff—especially the staff—were excellent! The beds felt a bit too firm, and the carpet at the entrance to the room had huge oil stains that clearly came from outside near the trash receptacle.

“Would stay here again. Hopefully next time have time to explore”

The location is perfect, even off Highway 1, and it’s very quiet and calm; the staff are extremely friendly. The downside is that nearby food places close at 10 pm, so if you arrive after that only a vending machine offers dinner.

The toilet is very small, and the bathroom window isn’t high enough—anyone walking by can see into the bathroom.
