“Charming apartment in a stunning medieval village.”
The apartment was charming and quirky, tucked into a medieval village. Getting from the main entrance to the old village was a breeze. The host was extremely welcoming, helped us lug our luggage up the skinny, steep stairs, and gave us tips on secure parking. The décor captured the old‑world charm with huge beams and an exposed fireplace. A window looked out onto the winding village alleys. We were handed coffee, tea, and water when we arrived. The village itself is simply stunning and a must‑see. The weekly market was rained out during our stay, but it was wonderful the last time I visited. The apartment is only a three‑minute walk to the market and to restaurants and shops in the main square. The stairs are steep and narrow, as expected in an ancient building, and the “railing” is a quaint but not very helpful thick rope. Luckily, the staircase is narrow enough that you can use the walls on each side to guide your steps down. The second bedroom has no door or window to the outside; it opens onto the main area and sits right next to a small bathroom, so privacy is minimal. The bathroom is very compact, and the small shower area would benefit from a curtain or door to keep the water in. The hose and sprayer were handheld, plastic, and a bit flimsy – more like what you’d find in an RV. The inside of the refrigerator still had some leftover debris that should have been removed during cleaning.
