The spot is just a few minutes walk from the beach, shops, the city mall, and the town hall, and the staff are very friendly and always ready to help. But when I arrived they handed me a tiny room, even smaller than my own bathroom at home. I asked for a move because I had paid for the twins room, and after confirming my booking they apologized and switched me to a larger room. Still, the bed was uncomfortable and the room had almost nothing except a fridge. The bathroom was 20 m outside the room and there were a lot of cockroaches in both the room and the bathrooms. For the price I paid, I could have stayed somewhere much better. I realized I’d booked this at the last minute after canceling my previous accommodation in North Durban because they didn’t know the place was full but still opened it for booking. The owner later told them there were no rooms available and had to cancel my trip. I ended up booking the Victoria Waterfront Lodge on 31 December at the last minute and canceled my taxi from the airport to my previous accommodation. I couldn’t regret it because it could have been worse—there were no other accommodations on 31 December. Later I learned the place is actually a student lodge, which explains some things. I hope they spray something to kill the cockroaches because I killed almost ten; it was very disgusting.

It’s just a walking distance to the beach and Ushaka Marine too, and they have the best security, so I felt very safe there. The ablution block is separate and away from the rooms.

Staff is friendly. The facility has lots of cocroaches 😒
