I liked the outdoor hot spring, it was a nice touch. However, the heating machine was super loud and that was a bit annoying. Still, it was a nice experience overall.

The hotel sits right opposite Yufuin Station, directly above a rice‑ball shop, and you have to walk past the shop’s side street to get inside. If you’re traveling with a companion it helps to have one person check in on the second floor first (don’t forget to bring the other person’s passport) because your room might actually be on the ground level. I was lucky enough to use the outdoor onsen, which was wonderfully relaxing. The room lacked a mirror for grooming, which was a minor inconvenience. Also, the ground‑floor rooms have an extra door outside the bedroom door that has no lock or magnetic catch, so anyone who mind that should consider it; however, the hallway is practically empty at night.
