Grand Hotel Fasano, Gardone Riviera, sits on Lake Garda’s shore within a 12,000 m² park. Comprising a historic main building and the 19th‑century Villa Principe, it offers private lake access, a terrace‑side buffet breakfast, and elegant, air‑conditioned rooms with minibars, laptop safes and LCD TVs. The Roman‑inspired wellness centre features an indoor pool, hot tub, Turkish bath and gym, and the dock is a five‑minute drive away.

The setting was ideal for a European tour, and Lake Garda was fantastic. On my last night I had a terrible experience on the terrace with the servers. I was ignored and it took me 1 hour 40 minutes to receive a salad and butter to go with the bread they brought. Everyone else around me was served, yet no one even glanced my way. After that long wait I was fed up because no one could bring me a bill. I was the first guest to arrive at 5:15 pm, and the only female server walked straight past me to greet a couple that followed me. The maître‑d’ never checked on me. I left at 6:40 pm. As I departed the terrace I saw the maître‑d’ visit my table for the first time to clear the dishes. Previously I had planned to return, but after this incident I don’t think I will.

Everything was perfect. Grand Hotel Fasano exudes a unique elegance that never needs exaggeration. Its lakeside setting on Lake Garda, the gardens, architecture and views all contribute to a wonderfully peaceful vibe. Service was flawless throughout our stay. The hotel carries history, character and a distinct identity. There’s nothing to criticize – the experience was flawless from start to finish and every detail matched a hotel of this caliber. A minor upgrade to the night restaurant would be nice, as the staff are very friendly but I’d love to see better food, whether it’s lunch, breakfast or dinner.
