Landlady Elisabeth received us kindly and let us choose between three available rooms, all of which met our expectations; the 88‑year‑old lady of the house was always ready for a chat and had a quick quip ready, flavored with a touch of British humour; she personally stood in the kitchen each morning to serve a superb breakfast; we were grateful for her advice to take the bus instead of the train to Edinburgh, a good hour‑long trip that is quite interesting and affordable, especially since the bus stop is only a six‑minute walk from the accommodation; overall it was a successful stay in a very pleasant atmosphere.
