The room was comfortable and the surroundings lovely. While there’s no laundry facility, the staff kindly let me use their washing machine and dryer. I was surprised there wasn’t a washing machine and dryer available for guests, and more information—like the Wi‑Fi password (which I had to ask at reception), nearby spots, and restaurants—would be helpful. I’m sure this info used to be in the room.

No breakfast was available, but the gardens are probably Kaikōura’s best‑kept secret, especially this spring with rhododendrons, lilies, and other blooms around the ponds, bridges, and ducks, all set against snow‑capped mountains—absolutely stunning! The unit could feel a bit more “upmarket,” but at the reasonable price it’s perfectly adequate.
