Ben View Phoenix Hotel

The village itself is lovely, yet when I arrived the host told me my reservation had been cancelled so I had no place to stay for the next few days; for the three days that followed I heard and met more people who were similarly wronged by the host and had to find other lodging.

Nothing at all! AVOID IT! The owner didn’t greet us and stayed lying on his sofa in front of the TV; after we insisted on our rooms he finally grumbled that all his rooms were occupied, even though the parking lot was empty. Another guest who arrived with us was in the same situation, and he blamed someone else for the mix‑up. We had to scramble for other accommodation, all hotels were full, and we ended up at an excessively expensive one. I reported this to Booking, who replied that I couldn’t get a free cancellation and that my request was forwarded to the owner, who I doubt will offer any financial gesture. Despite many negative reviews, we had decided to give the owner the benefit of the doubt, to our great regret. I believe this person is dishonest and profits from Booking reservations.

The place was dirty, old, and quite revolting, and the guy who was supposed to check me in was vile.

Nice, unfortunately… A nightmare I didn’t expect from Booking, how can they list such an offer? A drunken man (probably the owner) who can’t be reached because he’s passed out, everywhere is dirty and stinky, rooms are open, everything is messed up… I’ve never seen anything like this. Everything is one huge “macabre”, does anyone even verify these listings? In the end my wife and I were left without accommodation that night, a real revelation, two retirees spent the night in a car! Referring to the below, there were no beds, only a completely drunk, probably the owner “laying” on the floor… I didn’t take photos because I was nervous, which is a pity.

Nothing very disappointing. Very disappointing experience — I would not recommend this hotel. I booked a stay for two people and received a confirmation email, but when we arrived late at night after a long journey, we were told that someone else had already checked in and that there was no room available for us. The accommodation itself was also very disappointing: it was extremely smelly and felt more like an abandoned house than a proper hotel. The host told us to go to the village and look for alternative accommodation, but unfortunately, we could not find anywhere nearby with a room available. As it was already very late at night and there were no nearby hotels with availability, the whole situation became extremely stressful and exhausting, especially after such a long journey. We had to call several hotels in the area, but because it was so late, most of them were not answering. Eventually, someone answered and, although they did not have a room available themselves, they kindly contacted another hotel and managed to find a room for us. Unfortunately, the alternative accommodation was about an hour away. It was raining heavily, and the journey took us through dark country roads and a forest. Travelling through an unfamiliar area in those conditions so late at night was extremely stressful. Overall, this was a very unpleasant and disappointing experience. The low price and breakfast included may sound attractive, but based on our personal experience, I would strongly recommend checking everything carefully before booking. We wouldn’t recommend this place to others.
