The bungalow was big enough for three people, clean, and almost quiet on the beach. The owner set up sun loungers with towels and umbrellas, handled requests (scooter rentals, taxis), and another friendly gentleman managed excursions. Other restaurants were on the beach and the staff were pleasant, but the beach was somewhat clean and wild. After almost six hours of travel (ferry, taxi), the reception was not impressive. The entrance was under construction with machines and building materials, and the owner seemed not very welcoming compared to other hotels we’d stayed at. I asked for fresh water, was told there was a bottle in the room—true, it was immaculate for a tea because it was hot inside. I had to buy a bottle at the bar (not a big deal, but it was a gesture). The owner offered a can on the last day. We were told the restaurants were closed for two days—okay, Songhran I get it, but honestly, how do you handle that in the middle of nothing? It would have been better to know before I paid. I arrived Sunday evening, so Monday and Tuesday the bar was also closed—very sad. We only had the option to have a light lunch, which always felt lacking and not great (greasy omelette, bad fruit juice, awful instant coffee and powdered milk). On the last day, my husband could only have an omelette with nothing else because it was the last day of the season. There were no shops nearby, so we had to take a taxi or rent a scooter. It was a shame and really ruined our last four days.
