“Lovely breakfast, but the property was more dated than expected”
The breakfast was lovely and the house itself has a nice, homely feel. It was adequate for a one‑night stay and the location was convenient. The photos online gave me the impression it would be a bit nicer than it actually was. The room I stayed in was very dated, and the windows couldn’t be opened, so there was no way to get fresh air. There was also no tea or coffee making facility in the room. After a really long day, all I wanted was a cup of tea, but when I asked, I was told that guests generally go across the road for food. I would have really appreciated being able to make a simple cup of tea in the room. A stray cat wandered into the house looking for food. While I understand that this may seem harmless to some, combined with the overall condition and age of the property, it made me question the hygiene standards. The breakfast itself was lovely, and I appreciate that this is an older guest house, but overall it just wasn’t for me and I wouldn’t stay again.
