The room was comfy with a balcony view and good soundproofing, but the internet was awful. Corridors and the restaurant were hot. The staff tried hard, but they were terribly trained. The GM of this boat should send someone undercover to experience it and report back.

The Luxury Yacht Hotel feels like many Yangon hotels: launched during the hopeful democratic era and now fighting to survive with almost no tourists. What you pay for a room—about 20 bucks that might have cost a hundred dollars before—comes with the downside that all onboard bars and restaurants are shut, leaving mostly abandoned areas cluttered with junk. Breakfast still offers five‑star service with uniformed waiters, but since I’ve stayed three times and was almost the sole guest, the buffet is limited to an omelette, fruit, and mediocre instant coffee. The pirate‑themed rooms and overall decay give it a distinctive vibe, and despite everything, it’s my favorite hotel in Yangon. The only bright spot is the very comfy beds; everything else is objectively awful, but that’s part of its charm.
