“My one and only stay at this awful hotel.”

Location for starting the Cumbria Way. Although I was warned about the possibility of music noise from the bar into the early hours of the morning I was shocked by the level of noise. It takes a lot to affect me but the music levels were extreme and far beyond anything I could have expected. This establishment should not take any room bookings on nights where the place becomes a disco/night music venue. Forget warning customers up front, that is not a get out clause

Staff were very helpful. Roast dinner in the pub was lovely. Bed wasn't very comfortable. Was a newly refurbished room but tv didn't work, blind was broken and much of the furniture/upholstery had seen better days. Paint work was grubby too. A lot of noise from hallways overnight, banging doors, loud voices etc. Served a purpose, but wouldn't rush back

“Staff excellent. Rooms need refreshing.”

Breakfast and dinner were excellent. Very generous portions. Our room was supposed to be refurbished but it certainly didn't look out feel like it. The hotel is very tired
