“Brilliant value for money, comfortable & clean”
The room was basic but spotlessly clean, comfortable and cosy, had everything I needed. Easy to park and the staff were friendly and helpful. Paintwork could use a refresh.
“Good pub, room outdated.”
The room was small, the bed was uncomfortable and not as expected. The room was outdated.
A lovely, helpful lady welcomed me warmly, showed me to my room and carried a bag for me as I had two bags and a dog. The room was clean with a pleasant scent, and the bed was very comfy. The room was warm, there was plenty of tea, biscuits, milk, coffee and easy access to more if needed. The tiled en‑suite shower cubicle was nice. Free parking onsite was great. The location was excellent—opposite the beach, with a selection of takeaways very close by. Finding a Bible in the room was a huge plus. An excellent response to my email, sent at 4.20 in the morning, where I'd expressed my struggles to relax during the evening and sleep through the night. My issues were all addressed the next morning with professionalism and compassion—acknowledging everything I had said, offering explanations and genuine apologies. Steps were taken to ease my disappointment and frustration. That caring, sincere response has resulted in me giving a far better review than I'd felt I could give without it. I was impressed with how I, and my concerns, were handled and would encourage you to contact the lovely lady in charge if you have any problems, before you give your review…she really cares about her guests and wants everyone to enjoy their stay. Decaf coffee would be nice, but I always bring my own, so no problem. I missed access to a hairdryer, but my short hair dried quickly enough. I tend to usually avoid places that charge for dogs, preferring to give my custom to those who don't charge—but the budget‑room price was good enough to make the extra tenner on my one night stay manageable. My little dog loved exploring our room. I couldn't get hot water from the shower…just lukewarm. Maybe that was me not dialing the controls correctly. The view…there wasn’t one! I was in a budget room and the price was a little lower because of looking out on a white wall—a beautiful coastal mural on there would look amazing, and feel a little less claustrophobic. The plus side is you’re not overlooked! The noise of the cooling equipment in the cellar, keeping beers and barrels at the right temperature, travels clearly into room 4, which caused me a stressful evening, while I was wanting to relax, and unfortunately, a near sleepless night. There’s nothing that can be done about this noise and it might not affect someone else. If somebody is hard of hearing or wears ear plugs, or is a heavy sleeper, then room 4 will be a comfortable place to spend a night or two. I struggled and ended up emailing the property at 4.20 in the morning to express my disappointment and stress. As said above, they responded quickly, professionally and compassionately, which impressed me a lot!
“Highlands review”
The location was local to where I needed. Parking was an issue; there should be some parking bays just for guests, Saturday night was a pain to park.
The ladies who are running it are fabulous 🥰😉! I already told them I'm moving in 😊! Just fantastic and made my stay and my doggie a wonderful experience!!! Can't fault it!!
