A romantic place with a rustic charm. There was a noticeable damp scent.
I was in the city centre, the staff were friendly, the breakfast was excellent and the a la carte concept was solid. The mattresses were very firm and left me with back pain, the rooms were chilly because the heating hadn’t been turned on for the season, and there was a drainage smell in the bathroom.
The interior is excellent, the location is superb where history meets modernity. Aleksupīte – Latvian Venice behind the walls. German design – Kurzeme Switzerland :) The last‑minute breakfast was the tastiest in a man‑made bowl. The bedside lamp didn’t have a bulb, but that didn’t bother us.
The location was convenient, the breakfast was good, and the staff were helpful. The lounge had everything you need for coffee, tea, and laundry. The shower pressure was weak, and there was no TV, only Netflix and YouTube.
“В целом можем рекомендовать. Ресторан кстати превзошел все ожидания. Кухня оказалось очень вкусной”
I really liked the hotel’s spot right in the heart of old Kuldiga; everything is close and the city’s vibe hits you as soon as you step outside. The place is very clean, modern, and fresh, especially the large common area with a spacious kitchen, books, and chess. The rooms are comfortable, neat, and well thought out. Overall it’s a pleasant stop in Kuldiga. Unfortunately the service fell short. My wife and I were celebrating our 21st wedding anniversary and had told the staff in advance. We usually get a card, a little chocolate, or a few warm words for such occasions, but there was nothing at all. The hotel isn’t obliged to do this, but those small touches build a sense of good service. The mattresses felt uncomfortable for both of us, and we woke up with back pain. The check‑in process was confusing: you first go to the restaurant, pay, and get the keys. We may have missed the info, but it was hard to figure out, especially in heavy rain. I’d like the check‑in and navigation to be clearer. The same confusion happened at check‑out: the room must be vacated by 11:00, but the restaurant where you return the keys opens at 11:00. We were lucky to have staff inside to leave the keys, but we received no clear instructions on how to handle that. The main issue for us was the cost‑service ratio. 100 € a night in Kuldiga is a price where you expect a bit more attention to guests and better service. The place itself is nice, clean, and well located, but for that price I’d expect the service level to match.
