The location was great, the staff were lovely and very helpful, and the traditional room for two was charming. The shared facilities were very convenient and spotless, and the shared kitchen and common areas worked really well. The bedding felt a bit hard on the floor, which might be an issue for more mature travelers with hip concerns, but the overall experience was very nice.

The location was excellent. It pretty close to the train station and the neighborhoods around the hostel were great for walking around. The facilities were excellent and our host was great. We got our own room which was quiet and spacious. Showers were good. The kitchen was super cute and there was a bunch of local recommendations provided. Lots of signs up about keeping noise down which was nice. If I had to get nit picky the only thing I didn't like was that they charged for towels. It wasn't expensive, but just seemed a little ridiculous

Takai, the owner, was incredibly helpful, making a huge difference to my stay in Matsumoto. I loved the book he created that described the various restaurants and their specialties. A lot of love and hard work went into making this place special. Takai was patient, answered all my questions, and went out of his way to assist me. I’m very grateful for his kindness and consideration. There are many eating and drinking spots just a few minutes away, as is the castle, and it’s only about a 15‑minute walk from the station, so even with a suitcase I could walk here.

It was a great space to stay in, with an excellent location, funky interior, and it was clean and very comfortable. Our host was very helpful and informative. Having tea and coffee available in the communal kitchen was great. The value for money was excellent. I loved everything.

I heard a lot of interesting stories about travel plans, house rules, and the surrounding area. It was the best place I’ve ever stayed at, and I definitely want to use it again the next time I come to Matsumoto!
