The service was incredible and the rooms were beautiful, but in hindsight I would have booked a room with a fan; our room didn’t have one and it was hard to sleep.

Located 3.5 hours from Puerto Maldonado city, accessible by bus (1 hour) and boat (2.5 hours), the Tambopata Research Center is the only lodge inside the National Reserve of Tambopata. The place is really pretty and comfortable, and the staff are very kind without being intrusive with the natural surroundings.

The hotel's location is fantastic, and the breakfast is top-notch. Unfortunately, the noise from the nearby street can be a bit of a nuisance.

This trip was truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience, thanks to the hotel's impeccable organisation and our amazing guide Juan. We were blown away by the incredible array of wildlife, from tapirs to macaws, and the hotel's deep connection to the Amazon rainforest.

I've never seen wildlife like it anywhere else – this place is truly sensational. The staff are exceptional, and they've got the whole experience down to a seamless art. If you're looking for a chance to see the Amazon's incredible creatures up close, look no further.
