“Great location over the pub”
Great location, plenty of nearby dining options. Sue was very attentive and helped us settle in. The bathrooms are down the hall but offer privacy and are very clean. If you only need a comfortable bed and not much else, this place will do.

The bed was comfortable and the air conditioner worked well, heating the room quickly. There was a common kitchen where you could make tea and prepare your own toast if you came prepared. The shared bathroom nearest our room had a faulty light that blinked continuously, making it quite dark to shower at night. The hot and cold water taps were unlabeled, and because the hot water took so long to come through, I thought there was no hot water at first; eventually it did come through.
The bed itself was clean and the staff were really friendly and down to earth, which was hard to find elsewhere. The room smelled like someone had smoked there and it was covered by air freshener. The hall carpets were stained, and the kitchen drawers were dirty with crumbs and spills. I had to shower in the dark because the light flickered. The shower head sprayed in several directions, wetting my clothes, and water went all over the floor with no shower curtain. It’s a bed to stay in, but I paid the same as a motel that was super clean with lots of space; I paid about $90, while I would expect $70 to be more reasonable. You can’t charge the same as a motel unless you’re super clean.

The bar staff were excellent, but the air conditioning compressor kept cycling on and off all night, and pigeons were roosting at 5:45 am. The floorboards creaked and there was no sound deadening, so I could hear heaps of snoring from other rooms – it felt like a ghost town.
Everything was great – the staff were friendly and welcoming, and despite the hotel’s age it had plenty of character. I absolutely loved it and would recommend it to family and friends. Cleanliness was 100 %. The restaurant is recommended; we ate at the RSL and enjoyed our stay 100 %. The only drawback was the shower heads in the bathrooms; it was winter and it took ages to get hot water, which was the only discomfort.
