Novoli is a small Salentine town that, by itself, offers little, though it is very quiet; however, being only a 15‑minute drive from Lecce makes it strategic for those who want to save money while staying in a very central spot. From Novoli we reached all the major Salentine centers within an hour by car (besides Lecce: Ostuni, Egnazia, Otranto, Zinzulusa, Castro, Ugento, Leuca, Galatina, Nardò, Gallipoli, Porto Cesareo), starting from this holiday home Nonna Tetta, which we appreciated for: 1. its location right in the historic center and the tranquility; 2. the nice little garden with a jacuzzi (but don’t forget the mosquito repellent…); 3. the mini‑apartment space (room 4 was comfortably enough for two rooms with an attached bathroom); 4. the ease of parking; 5. the pizzeria under the house (great Apulian panzerotti and horse stew, almost free); 6. the price, fair for what is offered overall. The drawbacks were: 1. there was no pod coffee machine or capsule machine, so every morning I had to trek to the nearest bar (the moka is there, but it takes two balls to light the gas…); 2. the fridge was noisy, I suggest replacing it; 3. ants appeared in the bathroom right away and after a few days also in the cooking corner: the apartment was clean, but ants need to be kept away systematically; 4. the bathroom was usually permeated by a bad odor from the drains: I understand this isn’t an easy fix, especially in some historic center buildings, but a solution is needed because it compromises the enjoyment of the stay; 5. finally, the mini‑apartment furnishings were a bit too vintage—perhaps a gradual modernization would help.
