Casa Dragoi din Socolari, 218, Caras - Severin

The stay turned out to be the best accommodation I've had in Romania after ten days: the place is quiet and pretty, with a fully equipped kitchen, a big room that has a private bath, a nice patio, and private parking. It’s close to Potoc and the natural park, where you can enjoy easy hikes to Blue Eye Lake or waterfalls. The nearby roads are rural and badly maintained, so you’ll have to drive slowly.

“exceptional”

The host’s hospitality was exceptional, with cleanliness, quiet, and a kitchen that had everything needed. Parking was secure. A single suggestion: an anti‑slip mat in the bathroom would be useful. The access road is dusty, but that isn’t the owner’s fault and may be resolved soon.

The place was quiet, clean, and the owner was friendly, and the kitchen was fully equipped. The drive from Oravita to Socolari was an adventure through potholes, and getting to the accommodation in Socolari involved an unpaved stone road where parked cars were an obstacle; only off‑road vehicles could pass safely without risking damage to the chassis or tires. When we arrived, only cold water was running, and we had to locate the key to the gate ourselves on departure.

“Ne-a plăcut cazarea și o recomandăm din cauza proprietarului plăcut”

The private parking, nice courtyard, and kind owner were positives, but the roads from Oravița to Socolari are in such bad condition that we no longer want to visit the area. Tourism professionals everywhere should petition authorities because it’s unacceptable that instead of returning relaxed from a holiday, you leave nervous or with a wrecked car. I haven’t seen such potholes in at least 20 years on public roads in the country; it’s sad what’s happening in that region.
