“Cute old world hotel with great views of Lake Orta, but be careful showering in the bathtub!”
Our room was a decent size with a small terrace that offered a beautiful lake view. The twin beds, pushed together, were surprisingly comfortable. Storage was ample, plus a spot for large luggage, a desk, an extra bed (we hadn’t asked for it), and nicely sized nightstands with outlets (no USB). The bathroom had a decent tub with a shower, but see below. Breakfast was included and the buffet in the main dining room was standard but appreciated. The restaurant is well regarded, but see below. The bathtub’s folding plexiglass partition only covered half the tub and wasn’t sealed at the bottom, so every shower flooded the bathroom. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful for hotel matters, but unhelpful about dining outside. The restaurant waiters, who served us on the second night due to bad weather, were efficient but very gloomy, as if they’d rather be elsewhere. The food was good, but dinner for two cost 125 euros with one glass of wine per person.
