Being far from town made it very quiet and peaceful. The sunset without ambient light was nice, and the balcony offered a good view. The Keurig coffee machine with creamer in the fridge was a nice touch. There was no door on the bathroom, the room’s cooling was insufficient for the heat of the day, and there was no restaurant or food option on site except a prepared breakfast that would have added another $50 to our tab. If you’ve been wine‑tasting, you might not want to drive out for dinner from this location.

The location, architecture, and grounds were spectacular, which convinced us to pay a premium price for a short stay when our granddaughter graduated from Cal Poly. The room and its furnishings were exceptionally inferior; the furniture was, at best, uncomfortable and in most cases, damaged and unsteady. The bathroom had a totally useless sink and counter space—the sink didn’t drain and was inset in a tile countertop that placed it so far from the user it was almost unreachable. The tub was old and deadly slippery when used to stand for a shower, with no safety bars or handles for balance. The shower curtain didn’t reach the stand‑in tub, so the floor became soaked. Finally, there was no door to the bathroom—just a curtain that offered absolutely no privacy.
