The noise from the road outside was constant and ear-piercing, thanks to those single-glazed windows. To make matters worse, the hotel had this bizarre policy of charging extra for any food or drink you bring in, which we'd never encountered before. We tried to make the best of it, but after two nights, we just couldn't take it anymore and had to cut our trip short.
