Janice is an A++ host! This was far more than a room, a suite with a very comfortable king-sized bed, great bath, and an eating and sitting area, PLUS a sitting room with a couch and big tv. So much more than we expected. This before we realized there’s also a beautiful garden, and bench overlooking the loch. Janice was a font of Orcadian info, and was patient with all of our questions. Just superb… wish we had booked for a week!

Everything! Words cannot describe our experience with Janice and her lovely property; we appreciated the generous space, a sheet for the bed, ample French Press coffee, delicious breakfast with multiple choices, extra treats and tea options, the quietness of the setting, drying racks for wet clothes, an amazing garden, and most of all, time spent learning about the Orkney Islands with Janice, though we didn’t stay long enough.

We loved everything about this property; after spending over a month traveling throughout Scotland, Old School was by far our best experience, and every little nicety had been thoughtfully considered.

Breakfast was outstanding—my husband got a full cooked Scottish breakfast, while I enjoyed Scottish porridge with nuts, yogurt, fruit, and a scrambled egg with mushrooms and home‑grown tomatoes! The suite was lovely and the bed extremely comfortable. The Orkney Islands have so many amazing sights! I just wish we could have stayed longer!!
